HAPPY HEART LINES
PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH
GREER, SC
VOL. X July 15, 2009     NO. XI
Dr. Danny Emory, Pastor
Jo Edwards, HH President

Our July Happy Hearts meeting will be on July 21st at the Lake View Steak House.  We will meet at the restaurant at 11:00 on that day.  Please come and invite someone to come with you.  Rev. Kelley will need a number so, if you have not signed up, please call him or me to let us know that you will be attending.
We have suffered the loss of Mr. Charles Hamby this past week and we need to continue to remember Betty and the children as they make the adjustment to life without him.  Charles was such a joy to be around and we will miss his smiling face.
Since we will be going to Lakeview Steak House this month, there will be no program.  Mrs. Amber Barnett will be bringing some of the children to Adult # 1 Department on Sunday morning to sing for us during the assembly time.  Please feel free to join us for this.  This is something that Amber wants to do for us so please take advantage of it if you can.
We will soon be electing new officers so please be willing to consider prayerfully any office that you are asked to fill.
Thank you for your faithfulness.
Jo Edwards, HH President
Margaret Lynn, HH Secretary

Notes from Church Family

Dear Church Family
I do not have the words to adequately express my appreciation to you for your loving kindness for me during my hospital stay and following. Thank you for all of your cards, calls, food and flowers. Most of all, thank you for your prayers on my behalf and I ask that you continue to pray for my renewed strength.
I love you and miss you.
Sincerely,   Evelyn S. Edwards

Dear Church Family,
I would like to thank you for your prayers, cards, calls, and visits during my recent surgery and recovery time.
A special thanks to Pastor Emory and Rev. Kelly for staying at the hospital during my surgery.  I am doing very
very well now and would appreciate your prayers for the days ahead.  I love you all and am thankful to be a part of Pleasant Grove.
Love, Nadine

A Word from the Pastor
I am extremely excited that our youth will be taking a mission trip next week. Twenty-five youth and adults will do ministry at the beach. I encourage each of us to pray for them as they go in Jesus' name to spread Christ's word to others.

I hope that next year more will be able to go to minister to others. It's a good sign in the life of a church when people will take the message of God's Word to others, or to help someone in life in some way. Perhaps God will do more in your life to prepare you for missions next year.

The calling of God for every believer is to use what He has given us for his fullest potential. Moses is a prime example. When God called Moses at the burning bush, Moses first response was, "I can't". To which God said, "what is in your hand?" What many of you have in hand is a life of experience, resources, and ability. Use all that is in your hand for the glory of God.

Love, Danny

Don's Dabblings
CARE has not met for two weeks. Our Crusaders "C" team and Ambassador "A" team will be meeting together this week and out Reaching "R" team and Evangelist "E" team will be meeting next Tuesday, July 21.

Let me again urge Sunday School classes to turn in CARE cards indicating ministry needs.

All Happy Hearts members are reminded that our July 21st meeting will be at Lakeview Steak House on the porch.

Ruth Graham continues to minister to us through articles in Decision Magazine. Let me share some of her thoughts regarding pressure which we all face. …" we should not mind how great the pressure is , only where the pressure lies. If we make sure it never comes between us and our Lord, then the greater the pressure, the more it presses us to Him. Perhaps our secret of ‘grace under pressure lies in accepting that pressure is from the Lord, or at least permitted by Him. As we accept it from Him asking Him to teach us what He would have us learn through the experience, as we use it for the good of others and for His glory. Pressure will have fulfilled its purpose."
