A Word from the PastorPastor's Words I want to express my appreciation to Gary, Jim and the choir for an outstanding job they did last Sunday morning with the patriotic music. They certainly set the mood for celebrating our Nation's independence. Jennifer Donald and the Entertainment Team did a fine job, as always, of having a fine spread of food and with the help of each of you, we had plenty to eat. Many thanks to everyone who brought food to make the tables full. A word of gratitude is extended to Donna and Casey Morris, Wanda Provazay and Jennifer Donald for the patriotic decorations for the church and fellowship hall. This Sunday evening there will be a time of family fellowship that will begin at 5:00 pm. Instead of meeting at the ball field, we will meet at the Fellowship Building which will offer a cooler place for us. Games will be provided for the kids. Every who can bring a churn of ice cream is asked to do so. I hope you will come and let's enjoy each other's company in the Lord Love, Danny Be an encourager 1. Do a gesture of kindness to someone this week. 2. Call someone this week just to ask how he or she is doing and ask if there is anything you can do for them. 3. Inform someone of your thankfulness for them as a friend. (Philippians 1:3) 4. Do something out of the ordinary for a friend in church or in the community that expresses your thoughtfulness to them. (Romans 5:8) Don's Dabblings Don's Dabblings. Following delicious turkey salad and banana pudding prepared by Jennifer Donald, our Evangelist "E" Team got busy writing 21 cards and notes, making 6 telephone calls, praying for 49 individuals, and making 10 personal visits. CARE will begin a summer schedule. Please note these changes. "C" and "A" Teams will meet Tuesday, July 14. "R" and "E" Teams will meet July 21. Please remain committed to CARE program during the summer. Many thanks to the Charity Class for their CARE Cards submitted Sunday. I urge other classes to submit CARE cards on behalf of their members. Sometimes, you are the only one who knows of a ministry need. As I thought about Independence Day, I was reminded of an incident that happened near the beginning of the Revolutionary War. A farmer approached General George Washington's camp near the battle front. He heard an agonizing voice and coming nearer, he saw it was General Washington prostrate on his knees in the snow, his cheeks filled with tears. He was asking God for His Almighty assistance and guidance. The man returned home exclaiming, "George Washington will succeed." He was asked why he thought so. "Well, I heard him pray out in the woods and the Lord will certainly hear such a fervent, earnest petition. The farmer was right. As someone has said, America today needs more righteousness, less riots; more prayer, less pride; more of God, and less of greed!. We will remain "independent" as a nation only so long as we recognize our "dependence" upon the Lord's favor and blessing.
