Issue 11, Year 2009 Pleasant Grove Baptist Outdoorsman's Banquet March 21, 2009 6:30 pmFood, Fun and Prizes Special Music Rev. David Sharpton, Guest Speaker $10.00 per person HAPPY HEART LINES March 11, 2009PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, GREER, SC First of all, I want to say Thank you again to all of you who helped to make the Valentine's Banquet a huge success. A special thank you to all of the workers who stayed after the meal and helped us clean up the kitchen. These are the unsung heros of the day. You know who you are and, more importantly, God knows that you give unselfishly to His activities and you will be rewarded for your generosity. Also, thank you to all of the senior adults who participated in the gift of money that you gave me at the banquet. I do all that I do for the love of God and of you. It is a privilege to be able to serve with you. On Tuesday, March 17th, at 11:00 a.m., we will have our monthly meeting of Happy Hearts in the Fellowship Hall. The lunch will be provided by Food Group #1, with Ruth Tooley and Margie Sudduth at the helm. The lunch will consist of Meat Loaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit and dessert, along with rolls and tea or coffee. The cost will be $4.00 each. Food group #1 will meet on Monday at 2:00 p.m. to prepare for the meeting. Linda Parr has invited Joada Hiatt to have our program for March. Joada is curator of the Greer Museum and has written several books on Greer. You will enjoy hearing what she has to say about our area. Invite someone to come with you, especially someone who has recently moved nearby. Please be much in prayer for our shut-ins; visit them if you have a chance. They also love phone calls. Don't miss out on a blessing. In closing, I would like to say a word of thanks to ALL of our food groups. Each month they do a wonderful job of setting up the dining room and working in the kitchen. We appreciate all of the work that you do. Jo Edwards, HH President Margaret Lynn, HH Secretary To Top |

A Word from the PastorDiary of a Bible January, a busy time for me. Most of the family decided to read me through this year. They have kept me busy for the past two weeks. Now they have forgotten. February, Clean up time. I was dusty yesterday and put in my place. My owner did use me a few minutes last week. He had been in an argument and looking up some references. March, I had a busy day the first of the month. My owner was a leader of something and used me. I got to go to church for the first time this year, Easter Sunday. April, Grandpa visited us. He kept me on his lap reading First Corinthians for an hour. He seems to think more of me than he did when he was younger. May, I have a few green stains on my pages. I had some early spring flowers pressed in me. June, I look like a scrapbook. They stuff me full of newspaper clippings. One of the girls got married. July, they put me in a suitcase today. I guess we are off on a vacation. I wish I could stay at home because I will have to stay in this thing a whole month. August, still in the suitcase. September, back home again and in my old place. I have a lot of company, 2 "True Stories" and 4 "Comic Books" are on top of me. My, I wish I could be read as much as they are. October, they used me a little today. One of them is very sick, right now I am all shined up and in the center of the table. I think a preacher is coming! November, back in my old place. I was looked through for some old papers today. One of the children picked me up and asked, "Is this a scrapbook?" December, they are getting ready for Christmas so I will soon be covered with packages and wrapping paper. Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings CARE did not meet last week. With the snow and freezing temperatures, we did not want to risk someone getting hurt. The Crusaders "C" team and the Ambassador "A" team are meeting this week. The word "nevertheless" is used some 90 times in the Bible. It is often used in connection with power and victory in the face of threat and destruction. Let's look at some examples. In 2 Corinthians 7:5, the Apostle Paul recalls an experience in Macedonia of being extremely tired, and facing trouble on every side. But then, he added, "nevertheless God, that comforted those that are cast down, comforted us," (2 Cor. 7:6) And then there was Simon Peter. Beaten down with failure after fishing all night without success, he could have replied, "What's the use?" Instead, he said, "nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net" (Luke 5:51). There was such a catch the nets broke. We often find ourselves in situations that seem impossible. But then we remember that we serve a great big God and our faith (Forsaking All, I Trust Him) is renewed! Nevertheless, I will trust God. Our Shut –in for the week beginning Sunday, March 15 is Edith Smith, 103 School Street, Apt. 230, Greer, SC 29651-3412 Love in Christ, Don Kelley Ballard's Ballads On March 29th at 6:30 pm, we will have "Spirit's Call" back with us in a love offering concert. They came summer, two years ago. They were comprised of 6 men and they were well received. I appreciate Bonnie Roberts for her leadership of our Children's choir. She was a blessing to our children. Jennifer Chisam and I will be leading the Kids At the Grove. Friend Day will be on May 3rd. This Sunday School campaign will ask that everyone sign up a friend to come with you to Sunday School and Worship on this day. We could very possibly have close to 400 in Sunday School.
