Going, Telling and Giving
What will it take to ensure that every tribe, tongue, and
nation hears the story of Jesus?

From
Ken and Cathy Moore
, Our missionaries in residence.
Your gifts to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
enable Cathy and me and over 5,000 other IMB missionaries around the world to focus full-time on seeing church planting movements occur in every people group remaining to be reached with the Gospel.  Please pray about making a gift to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  Check out the IMB website -www.imb.org - for all the information you need on praying, giving, and going as Southern Baptists on mission with God.

Lottie Moon Christmas March

Our Church Goal $5,500

Every penny given to the Lottie Moon offering is used to support Southern Baptist missionaries as they share the Gospel overseas. The offering represents nearly 50 percent of the International Mission Board's total income.

How much does it cost to support a missionary?

Per year $41.258.77 Per day 113.04
Per month    3, 438,23 Per hour    4.71
Per week       793.44 Per minute      .08

If 250 of our members gave $22,
we would reach our church goal of $5,500.

A Word from the Pastor
I am enjoying our musicals on Sunday evening during the Christmas season. These songs set the mood for this special time of the year that we celebrate our Savior's birthday. I extend a word of appreciation to everyone who has participated in the programs. Let me remind you that this Sunday, December 21, we will join with El Bethel for a joint service as choirs from both churches sing.
Please remember our Christmas Eve Eve service. This will be the last opportunity for our church family to gather before Christmas. This service will start at 7:00 pm  Come casual and relax as we remember the wonderful story of Christmas.
From the Emory family to you and your family, we wish for you a Christ-filled and Joyous Christmas!
Love, Your Pastor

Don's Dabblings
Our Reaching "R"  and Evangelist "E" teams met last Tuesday night. They were busy writing 42 cards and notes, making 7 telephones calls, praying for 35 individuals, and making 4 personal visits.
As we come to the close of 2008, let me again that our team leaders: Anne Singleton, Mary and Gary Bennefield, Wayne Elders, and Bryon and Teresa Brown. A big thank you goes to our cooks who have provided delicious meals: Susan Davidson, Stephanie Bennefield, Lounell Rodd and Jennifer Donald. A big hug and thank you to so many faithful team members who make this ministry possible. In addition, I wish to thank Jo Edwards for help in preparing CARE cards and  organizing other material. Kudos also to Marie Wood and Louise Dillard for their help throughout the year. I am blessed to have so many dedicated members to assist me!
"You shall call His name Jesus for He will save His people from their sins." (Matt. 1:21) Christians can miss the point of the Christmas story if they aren't careful. We can become so charmed with the story of a baby that we grow sentimental about it.
The real question is this: Is our Christmas still only a story about a baby or is it more. A story about a person into whom the baby grew,  who can redeem the world from its sins, and who calls us into partnership with His great and mighty purpose?
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph, he said, "You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save  His people from their sins" (Matt. 1:2 1). It is only as we see the birth of Jesus in the light of His crucifixion and resurrection that we are able to grasp the full meaning of Christ's coming.
Our shut in beginning Sunday, Dec 21 is Judy Ingle, 1611 Holly Springs Rd., Lyman, SC 29365-9690
Our shut in beginning Sunday, Dec. 28 is Orelia Steading, 721 W Curtis St, Simpsonville, SC 29681-2526.
Our shut in beginning Sunday,  January 4 is Ben Dillard, Bellaire Place, 23 Southpointe Dr, Apt 137, Greenville, SC 29607-6902.
Love in Christ, Don Kelley

Ballard's Ballads
Thanks Bonnie and all your helpers, for a wonderful presentation of music  Sunday night. The kids did great.

Next Sunday at 5 pm , the Adult Choir will join with El Bethel Baptist to present "Unspeakable Joy". It will be performed at El Bethel . Please join us for the music and fellowship afterward. Be sure to bring your favorite finger foods.

Let me wish everyone a very blessed and exciting Christmas this year. Be careful to share with those in need during the holiday season.

Michael's Youth News
Youth News
I would like to thank the youth for making our Christmas party a success.  We had a wonderful time with games, food, and fellowship. Thank you to Stephanie and the Coffee Station for providing the meal. It was delicious.  A special thank to our youth for all the gifts, money and gift cards you gave for this needy family in our community.  Our youth showed the true meaning of Christmas by giving to those in need.  We were in need of a Savior and God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us. We praise Him and give Him all the glory.

[January 23-25 2009 Chilipeppers Winter conference] I will need $60 dollars by January 3 if you plan to go. This includes registration, hotel fee, and continental breakfast at the hotel.  Please bring additional money for lunch, dinner, and anything extra you would like to buy.  I think this will be a great conference and a great time to grow closer to the Lord and one another.
