A Word from the PastorLast Monday evening, I had the pleasure of joining with 12 other men for a prayer meeting at the home of Melvin Morris. We were blessed as Melvin and Theron sang and each man gave a word of testimony of their spiritual journey. The time together was very refreshing and uplifting as the love of Christ filled the room. Personally speaking, my life and ministry has been greatly enhanced by the prayers of the people. These Godly men are a blessing to me and when God works through me, much of the increase is because of their prayers for me. Thank you prayer warriors for what you do. God bless you for you have blessed me. Love, Your Pastor Don's Dabblings Following delicious meals on successive Tuesdays, our four teams combined to write and address 129 cards and letters, made 3 phone calls, offered prayer for 101 individuals, and made 15 personal visits. Well done! In another life, I was a member of a Lions Club. As many of you know, one of that clubs major projects is sight conservation. The following story came out of a Lion's Club in Arkansas. A woman in Arkansas started going blind while carrying her last child. She was totally blind at his birth and lived in blindness for almost twenty years. Her son joined the military and was soon stationed overseas. About that time, a Lion's Club member referred he to a Lion's Club Eye Clinic. The doctors performed a simple, twenty minute operation on her eyes. Afterwards, she gained full sight in one eye and partial sight in the other. When her son returned from overseas, she saw him for the first time in his life. The response at the Lion's Club meeting proved interesting. Some of the members said, "that's awful, She was blind all those years when all she needed was a simple operation to cure her. What a horrible waste of twenty years." However, others said, "Isn't it wonderful that she can see again-see her son, see the world again!" Two very different responses. I wonder what attitude the woman chose-resentment that she was unnecessarily blind for twenty years or gratitude that she could now see again? It's is always our choice. Every situation is a mixture of good and bad. God says make the gratitude choice. See what there is to be thankful for rather than dwelling on the negative things.
